things i’m listening to: backdrop playlists
i love only a few things more than listening to playlists made by my favorite brands. right now? i’m hooked on playlists from backdrop. yes, the paint/wallpaper brand.
backdrop x porsche. inspired by their porsche collab, i’ve been pretending i’m driving my future porsche while listening to this one.
disco nap. i want both of these things 90% of the time so, this one in particular called to me. (preview: kool & the gang, diana ross & chic).
silver lake dad. something many of us (myself included) aspire to be. of course it has radiohead on it.

things i’m reading / that are informing things in my cart: chaotic customization
chaotic customization was coined one wgsn’s ‘25 trends and i’m incredibly here for it. here’s what’s caught my attention:
chaotic customization is gen z’s “joyful rebellion” (my 0.02? this isn’t specific to gen z). - mean blvd
it’s also been deemed a part of the return of “maximalism”, which…maybe? but i don’t think chaotic customization has to be wasteful (more on this below). - jing daily
it’s been seen as a “breaking free from fashion’s homogenization”(….but if everybody’s doing it, isn’t that also a form of homogeny? which there’s nothing wrong with btw). - vogue business
it took off with, of course, jane birkin’s preference to have a little “jingle jangle” to her bag. - fashionista / cbs sunday morning
as most of you know, i’m averse to the monogram (i wrote about customized pieces i actually am into here), but what i like about chaotic customization is the idea of taking something classic (anti-trendy) and adding customization to it to make it feel more “of the times”…
….aka in a way that doesn’t break the bank and you’re left with a base line of something you’ll still wear/use when we eventually all tire of bag charms, funky shoe laces, etc.
small ways i’m doing this:
hear me out: free people sells some letter laces charms that i think would be fun to rearrange to make different words than what they’re supposed to be (i.e. “cool” —> “loco”).
they also sell a pack of shoe charms with a little cherry. i’m team getting a pack of these and divvying up the charms with some friends.
the alohas crochet sneakers come with a ribbon lace option which i love.
bose x susan alexandra collaborated on a "headphones dazzle kit”. so great. you could also add some of these to your existing headphones (i recommend on a case so you can remove if you get sick of them).
i’m currently in the process of deciding what i want embroidered on one of these great pillows.
the custom memor phone cases are a classic. so chic.
definitely a copycat of the memor cases, but i also love the charm options that this etsy seller provides (and it’s better than shopping on amazon or other ff alternatives).
we’re overdue for the resurgence of the steering wheel cover. i like this fuzzy flower print one (that can also have custom letter charms…) personally.
repeat after me: bag charms do not have to be pricey. i’m obsessed with this blackberry one…
and this strawberry one (a theme here)…
and, for something fancier with multiple charms? this parker thatch one.
she’s making a reappearance because i’m such a fan: the abbode custom engraved lighter.
things to make: some chaotic customization, of course.
what’s chaotic customization if not for a little diy.
i’m inspired by weird bits’ charmed adidas.
charms inspired by jasmine dowling. this little pink strawberry earring turned bag charm is calling my name.
i’d also like to make my own bow charms with the same cord fabric as the miu miu ones.
things to *swoon* over: photos that make me want to celebrate something.
Love the last pic of the 🕯️ wax. As someone who appreciates maximalism—I’m here for chaotic customization 🦄
ok obsessed with this
