things in my cart: white dresses
between my engaged besties and a friend’s engagement party where the dress code is all white, the search for white dresses has been on so, i figured i’d share my findings (whether it’s for bridal or post memorial-day purposes):
when i came across this (yes, see through) house of cb dress i ran to add to cart!
the sleeve length x the pleats on my mum made it’s short sleeve pleat shirt dress are perfect.
faithfull the brand can do no wrong in my book lately and their eveline mini shift dress is no exception.
the plissé on georgia hardinge’s harlow shirred plissé maxi dress is so good!
for some structure? de la vali’s lola structured twill mini dress.
more casual? hill house’s ellie maxi nap dress.
mille’s carla crochet dress in white is very piper from white lotus coded in the best way.
the neckline on lucille’s silk lucie dress is my ideal situation.
an if only if nightgown if we’re going (back to) sheer.
i love the strap width and the structure on lpa’s giovanna mini dress.
for a drop waist: ronny kobo’s verda dress.
things i’m reading: fashion rules no one has to live by (cc: no white after labor day)
between the recent pantless trend and sheer dresses on the red carpet, the old school rules are broken. i’m team “wear white whenever”, but what’s the deal with “no white after labor day”? it dates back to the gilded age and was purely practical to keep cool during the summer (vogue).
no white after labor day is the most notorious, but what are some other “fashion rules” to live by likely ignore?
no navy x black in the same outfit (even kate middleton broke it…can you believe it? - vogue)
wearing only seasonally appropriate fabrics (i.e. cashmere in the winter, linen in the summer)
no mixing gold / silver jewelry (hailey bieber has given mixing metals her stamp of approval - teen vogue)
things i’m listening to: songs from movies that play during wedding scenes [or scenarios]
l-o-v-e by nat king cole [the parent trap]
a thousand years by christina perri [twilight]
this will be (an everlasting love by natalie cole [bride wars]
i do, i do, i do, i do, i do by abba [mamma mia!]
things to make: tablescapes on white tablecloths
grapes are the ultimate tablescape hack whether they’re towered or draped.
taper candles are a must!
a good white tablecloth? personally, i’m obsessed with this lace embroidered one, but jenni kayne’s linen tablecloths are iconic too.
things to *swoon* over: white décor
