mini dives: the great resurgence of the oldies
sneakers + what is up with our fridge obsessions?
welcome back to ‘mini dives’. if you’re new here, these are not quite deep dives, but mini dives into a singular focus whether that be one artist or an entire genre, one book or articles covering a singular topic, one brand or an overarching product category….you get the “mini dives” idea.

things i’m listening to: songs that saw a resurgence
some songs that saw a resurgence thanks to tv/movies/etc.
icymi *nsync’s ‘bye bye bye’ has skyrocketed to the top of charts after being in deadpool & wolverine (i love this so much for them. no strings attached will forever be my good mood album.) - billboard
“the saltburn effect” brought sophie ellis-bextor’s ‘murder on the dance floor’ to its best ever streaming week after being out for over two decades - official charts
who could forget when kate bush’s ‘running up that hill’ topped multiple global charts thanks to stranger things season four - billboard
(jump) for my love by the painter sisters first came out in 1984. the beloved christmas…now classic? (it’s been 21 years), ‘love actually’…gave it a nice resurgence. - movie jawn
wednesday brought goo goo muck by the cramps from 2,500 daily streams to 130,000 daily streams after the show’s release - nme
things in my cart: sneakers
i recently added the onitsuka tigers mexico 66 to my sneaker arsenal after grappling over which white sneakers weren’t incredibly basic (and talking myself out of the kill bill version) for too long.
another tried and true adidas shoe, but in my favorite color combo: the wales bonner light blue originals with mesh
another (almost all)white shoe contender: the adidas handball spezial with brown, light blue and yellow stripes (is there a pattern here?)
roa’s are very underrated. especially this brown, suede (water repellant) colorway (that’s also 43% off at ssense)
ganni’s performance sneaker that, let’s be real, we wouldn’t wear hiking.
hear me out on these olivela sneakers. i mean…look at the flower soles and the patent bow!
as. dancer, “balletcore” items typically make me want to run the other direction, but these sandy liang salomons are allowed (mostly because they look like a “teacher shoe”…another iykyk)
if you’re a 36 EU, you would look so great in these simone rocha cloth ballet flats and you need to let the rest of us live vicariously through you.
more dries shoes because last time you all loved them so much and these green ones are so fun (maybe on par with the kill bill shoes).
who knew pink keens were a must?
things i’m reading: when will we stop being obsessed with other people’s fridges?
i’ll admit, cap beauty’s “behind closed door” is my not-so-guilty pleasure. mostly because i envision myself being (or at least eventually being) the type of person who gets everything on my grocery list at the farmers market like these girlies at least seem to.
lately, from fridgescaping to restocking videos, i’m getting a bit concerned with us (shocking for someone who loves wandering through the grocery aisles and trying misc. new products). despite my love for fun new groceries, i don’t want to be taking pictures of my fridge or “decanting”. there’s a random apple here. a stack of four different types of cheeses over there (also shocking for someone who is lactose intolerant).
being obsessed with fridges seems like the opposite of our true crime obsessions as a society…incredibly mundane. maybe it’s because, even though we probably will never take the time to make our fridge or pantry look like that, the concept is attainable. no matter what it is, i place a good chunk of blame on the home edit, and will keep my focus on the real prize (what everything tastes like of course).
