welcome back to ‘mini dives’. if you’re new here, these are not quite deep dives, but mini dives into a singular focus whether that be one artist or an entire genre, one book or articles covering a singular topic, one brand or an overarching product category….you get the “mini dives” idea.
things i’m listening to: 3lw
you’re likely most familiar with 3lw from their hit single no more (baby i’m a do right)…because it’s amazing….apparently taylor swift wasn’t. even better, one of the members was kiely williams. yes, aka “aqua” in the cheetah girls.
another founding member, naturi naughton, was recently in the cast of the tv show queens. apparently, she left 3lw after a food fight? very disney coded.
on september 17, 2003 on mtv, the group was mentioned in the same headline as…ruben studdard performing for canadian idol…erykah badu “partying it up” in new york on a tuesday…and donald trump and kevin bacon listening to wyclef jean and patti labelle perform at the hudson theater….simpler times.
all we care about now is the uncertain cheetah girls reunion so the girls can “kill it again”.
things i’m reading: corporate core cont’d
about a month ago reformation announced their partnership with monica lewinsky (harper’s bazaar) to launch a workwear collection (and encourage voting <3). this is different than the trending men’s technical workwear with carhartt jackets (highsnobiety) and cargo jeans. this is blazers, trench coats, glasses….etc.
if referring to bella hadid one might call it “embracing librarian core”(instyle). emily sundberg might call it “corporate fetish” (dirt). whatever you’re calling it, it’s apparently the new quiet luxury (coveteur) and….sydney sweeney approves (marie claire).
things in my cart: “ten” travel holy grails (stick with me, they’re worth it)
summer travel is back and apparently ‘coolcations’ are in. so, here are some travel essentials in case you’re in the market (aka one of the 118m summer-traveling-people also in the market)
beauty essentials — i’m no expert, but i also know none of us want to waste time on vacation doing a 6-step
usually i’d run from an “anything”-in-1, but this 3-in-1 boum boum milk ($43 and so worth it) from violette_fr is actually incredible + they have a travel-friendly bottle
dieux’s angel eyes duo ($62) with eye patches and cream (for during the long flight obviously)
if you’re bringing any makeup, all you need is merit’s five minute beauty kit ($176) and this simihaze setting powder ($25). i promise.
a fragrance discovery pack from ourside ($35 + my current obsession)
the coolest, chrome (and refillable) deodorant i’ve seen ($38)
the perfect plane fit: “women” — one step up from sweats
le bon shoppe socks either the her socks ($12) or the sneaker socks ($10); an easy breezy pant like these donni silky simple pants ($168); a comfortable walking shoe you’ll wear during your trip - my vote is for sambas sorry ($90); a sweater in case it gets cold on the plane…i’ll always get behind some reformation cashmere ($va)
the perfect plane fit: “men” — i’d wear all of this too
a simple pocket shirt from elwood ($75); making it easy to shop from the same spot w/ wool pants also from elwood ($85); the goated uniqlo socks (4/$15); a bag like this lamaire one ($596) or this nylon one from lite year ($80) to hold all of your shit <3
travel-specific items — truly the essentials
i just got a carry-on trunk ($446) from july and…i’m obsessed with the chocolatey brown, but they have all sorts of colors and you won’t have the same ratty away one as everyone else on your flight
keep an eye out for when the dairy boy pouch restocks. she’s iconic.
snax & grocery — my real expertise
unreal chocolate covered pretzels will make your flight with a crying baby okay ($20/3; in stores); a dirtbag bar, you know why ($32/8); canyon instant coffee so you’re not stuck on a plane with a terrible brew ($20); ugly upcycled cherries ($va; in stores); hazelnut butter stuffed dates from date better ($36/6); i never travel without a hu kitchen bar ($36/6)
things to make: do peanut butter cookies count as gains?
i’ll admit, i hated peanut butter until i was probably 19 years old, but she grew on me and lately…i’m <3 her in everything! here’s what i’m making with peanut butter. join me.
recreating the erewhon peanut butter blast
jess damuck’s peanut butter cookie recipe in health nut
rachl mansfield peanut butter chocolate bars
i promise i eat savory things like peanut sauce too
things to *swoon* over: striped couches
